What Is Upside Down Text?
Upside down text uses special Unicode characters that visually resemble flipped versions of standard Latin letters, digits, and punctuation. When combined with reversing the character order, the result looks like text that has been rotated 180 degrees — readable when you turn your screen upside down.
Unlike CSS transforms or image rotation, upside down text is actual Unicode text that can be copied, pasted, and used anywhere that supports Unicode — social media, messaging apps, emails, and more. This tool runs entirely in your browser with no server processing.

Features Explained
Four Transformation Modes
▼
Upside Down flips each character to its inverted counterpart and reverses character order within each line, but keeps lines in their original top-to-bottom order. Mirror flips characters to their upside-down equivalents without reversing order, so text reads left-to-right with flipped glyphs. Reversed reverses character order within each line without any character flipping, creating a simple backward-text effect. Full 180° applies both character flipping and character reversal within each line, plus reverses the order of all lines — producing a true 180-degree rotation as if you turned the page upside down.
Comprehensive Character Map
▼
Supports all 26 uppercase and lowercase letters, digits 0-9, and over 30 punctuation and symbol characters. Unmapped characters pass through unchanged so your text is never broken.
Real-Time Processing
▼
Output updates instantly as you type. The transformation is memoized for performance, so only changes to the input or mode trigger recalculation.
File Upload & Drag and Drop
▼
Upload a .txt file using the Upload button or drag and drop a text file directly onto the input area. The file contents replace the current input text.

Tips for Upside Down Text
Works on most platforms
Upside-down Unicode text works on Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram, and most messaging apps. Some platforms may render certain characters differently.
Not all fonts support flipped chars
Some Unicode flipped characters come from obscure script blocks and may not render in every font. Monospace and sans-serif fonts generally have the best coverage.
Use for hidden answers
Type an answer or spoiler, flip it upside down, and share it. Readers have to rotate their screen or copy-paste it back to read it.
Combine with other tools
Use the Zalgo text, strikethrough, or bold/italic generators alongside upside-down text for even more creative effects.
Mirror mode for ambigrams
Mirror mode flips characters without reversing order — useful for creating ambigram-style text effects and visual experiments.
